Vitumbiko has worked in Malawi, Botswana and Namibia. He has worked for contractors as a Site Engineer, Site Agent and Contracts Manager. He has worked for consultants as an Assistant Resident Engineer and also for a client as a Projects Control Engineer.

Knowledgeable

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from The Polytechnic, University of Malawi. He holds an MBA from University of Stellenbosch Business School, South Africa. He has attended over ten refresher courses offered by various institutions such as South African Institute of Civil Engineers, Alusani, FIDIC, and Project Management Institute.

Involved

He is a professionally registered engineer with Engineering Registration Board of Botswana (ERB), and the Malawi Board of Engineers (BoE). He is a member of a number of professional institutions such as South African Institute of Civil Engineers(Associate Member), Society of Asphalt Technology (RSA), Association of Arbitrators (RSA) and Malawi Institute of Engineers (Corporate Member).

2021

Since 2018, he has been consulting for China Railway 20 Bureau Group Corporation as an Individual Consultant focussing on business development

Grant Thornton & BLM/UNFPA

2019

In 2019 and 2020 he was engaged by Grant Thornton (formerly KPMG) as an Individual Consultant to carry out the Technical Audit component of the Financial Audit on selected roads in Malawi. Grant Thornton was engaged by the Roads Authority. Later in the year he was also engaged by Banja La Mtsogolo/UNFPA to design a clinic and supervise the construction works of the same.

Nedebe & Surge

2016

Vitumbiko returned to Malawi from Namibia after joining Surge Infrastructure Development Limited and Nedebe Group as a director. Nedebe and Surge have three (3) different Public Private Partnership Agreements with the government of Malawi which they are busy working on. As the locally based director, Vitumbiko is responsible for contract administration of these infrastructure projects which are currently on Financial Closure stage. Roads Authority

2013

In December 2013 Vitumbiko relocated to Namibia where he joined the Roads Authority as a Projects Control Engineer. He managed various multimillion rands projects some of which were in billions like the Windhoek – Okahandja Section 4a Dual Carriageway.

Bash Construction

2009

In February 2009 Vitumbiko left for Botswana where he secured a job with Bash Construction as a Site Agent on the Lethlakane – Mmathsumo Road Project. He later joined Pula Consulting Engineers as Assistant Resident Engineer (Measurements) on the construction of Francistown – Ramokgwebane Access Roads Project. He then worked for Bango Trading Construction as a Contracts Manager where he managed multiple projects from tendering, execution and handover.

Mota-Engil

2007

2007, Vitumbiko worked for Liwenga Civil Engineering. The works ranged from construction of telecommunication towers, rehabilitation of dams and irrigation works to European Union labour based road project projects. Thereafter he joined Mota – Engil on Malowa – Goliati Road and Thyolo – Thekerani – Bangula Road.
